The company produces graphene batteries and graphene battery packs customized for each client. Graphene offers an alternative to lithium and lead-acid batteries, which degrade over time. PROBLEM. Currently one battery pack for a single electric vehicle contains 8 kilogams of lithium. Not only do lithium batteries need to be replaced every 10-15 years due to the degradation of the battery, the world does not have enough lithium to supply global demand. According to the IEA, the world will likely face a lithium shortage by 2025. In addition, lithium mining harms soil, causes air contamination and can limit surrounding communities’ access to water.

SOLUTION. Mint Energy’s breakthrough battery allows for expanded possibilities of using energy in places and applications never before imagined and offers an eco-friendly alternative to lithium. Unlike any other materials used to conduct heat and electricity, graphene is fully renewable. Additionally, graphene batteries outperform lithium batteries, charging faster and weighing less.

TECHNOLOGY AND ORIGINS. The battery management system acts like a data center in that it is easy to install in rack drawers, infinitely scalable, self-monitors and self-reports issues, and can be remotely controlled. This enables burying battery bunkers, using batteries as housing subfloors and in road induction charging.

Graphene is the best conductor of electricity and heat, as well as the thinnest and strongest compound known to man (100-300x stonger than steel). Graphene is a single layer of carbon atoms bound in a hexagonal lattice. Laser-scribed graphene (LSG) super capacitors are comparable in power density to high-powered lithium-ion batteries.

There are hundreds of companies now working with graphene. It was discovered in 2004 by physicists at the University of Manchester who isolated the one-atom thick material from graphite.

It is predicted that graphene batteries will be implemented in EVs within 4-8 years and graphene supercapacitors within 10 years. They are expected to become the battery of choice for EVs.

MILESTONES. This UL certified supercapacitor is already being manufactured and used at scale. They are the number one producer of graphene in the market and have shipped golf cart batteries already.
